Gina Ingoglia

Gina Ingoglia is vice president of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Florilegium Society and author of more than 80 books for children. She is a graduate of Dickinson College and holds an M.A. in publishing from New York University. In 1996 she received an honorary doctorate degree from Dickinson College. She also has a degree in landscape architecture from Rutgers University and has studied design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Kansas State University. She has also studied botanical art with Kevin Nicolay, Anne-Marie Evans and Katie Lee. From 1987 to 1995 she wrote and illustrated "The Budding Gardener" column in Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Plants & Gardens News. She maintains a private practice in residential landscape design and is garden advisor to the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Gardens in New York City. Her illustrations have been published by Faber & Faber, Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, and Disney Press. She recently wrote and illustrated a young people's book on trees for Brooklyn Botanic Garden, The Tree Book for Kids and Their Grown-ups, which won the 2009 Garden Writers Association Gold Award.
